God and Nature Fall 2023
By John Gentleman
Living’s for the robots, not me;
some tell me it’s good
they don’t see.
Existing is like a bubble burst
happy co-existence only thirst.
life in full (fool)
cold as steel
hard as rock;
you, if you live it, inherit the lot.
on the tarmac stands
one coke can
empty -
‘til it’s blown down
kicked
crushed
perhaps picked up
put in some obscure bin.
units tell me there is No sin
computer read-out - God’s never been!
commercial advertising
brainwashing propaganda
informs me
you’re living,
I believe them, I’m the living dead.
music’s got it all sewn up
punk will never be the same
materialism’s a heartbreaking game
porn soils the soul
Ford still sells more
booze blurs the mind
drugs - question mark?
life’s not a lark
where have I been?
where am I going?
is life for the living or only dying?
haven’t I been created~?
evolution won’t catch me,
God’s not dead
I live - He lives
He lives - I live.
Dylan jumps his pine box
C.B.S. label rocks
ancient Egypt’s past
man’s sailed to the stars,
one thing remains, my personal sin,
it’s always been the same!
nuclear attack from the east
won’t change it
neither can I;
one man can
one man came
one man died
one man lives on and on
Son of God on land,
when I die I’ll reach Him in the sky
He’ll say ‘Be changed!’
we will never be the same.
John Gentleman has been a qualified Gas Engineer installing gas heating systems in many areas of Scotland, UK. He was the owner of two Gas Heating Service companies over the past forty years. He later decided to sell his share of the business. Shortly afterwards he felt God's calling to study theology. He was accepted by the Glasgow B.T.I.
