God and Nature Summer 2023
By Noah J. Craig
The moon, so bright, it singed the blue sky black
And illumed the secrets of outer space--
So bright, it never loses from its face
That dimple-smile of craters. I stand back
And nearly tip over at what I see:
Sirius’ red and blue elation;
The frozen motion of constellations;
Planets, fireballs, drifting a dark sea.
I see the rainbow halo of the moon,
An eternal promise lacing the cloud
Reminding in the night that what aloud
Was said before will be done and that soon.
I am nothing but a poor star-gazer
Looking up to find light when looking down
At life’s hardships—the remedy I found:
Standing in awe as a silent praiser.
