God and Nature Summer 2019
By Scott Flaig
I'm not born yet, but the idea of me has.
From the beginning, the idea of me was formed,
but with no place to go.
The idea of me floated through space, alone,
but with comfort and confidence that one day, I will be me
—it's just not time yet.
The idea of me is now experiencing
the majesty and mystery of the universe,
without consequence , without concern, without fear
but only the pure omnipotence of its Creator.
I am not overwhelmed, I am grateful.
Time has now passed leaving me with another "now"
and high expectations of future "nows.”
The idea of me has reached its destination
--for now
For now, I will be more than an idea, I will be me.
And so it will be, for now--
only to know that sometime in the future,
I will be a memory
